There are some who maintain that food is the Brahman. This
is not quite true because, in the absence of the life-force, food rots. There
are some who maintain that the life-force is the Brahman. This is not quite
true, because in the absence of food, the life-force dries up. But when the
life-force and food are united, they are the Brahman. That is what sage
Pratrida was told by his father. He who realizes this, remains surrounded by
all living beings and gives them pleasure.
