Brahman is the Source

“Men learn of the Brahman and understand that they are one with the Brahman. Once they accept this, they realize that the Brahman is distinct from the physical body. It is this feeling that makes them identify themselves with the Brahman. The Brahman is the source of all bliss; he brings happiness to those who have grasped this knowledge.”

Agni: Lead us Righteous Paths

May the breath of my life be merged with the universal life-force. May my body be burnt to ashes.

O fire, that is in the mind! You are identical with the syllable oum. May you remember all my earlier lives and may you remember all the acts that I performed in them. O Agni! Remember all that deserves to be remembered. Remember my past acts.

O Agni! Lead us along righteous paths so that we may attain the best of wealth. O god! You are acquainted with the acts and minds of all beings. Preserve us from all manner of heinous sin. We chant many hymns in your honour.

Worship the Brahman with Heart

The Knowledge of the Brahman must only be revealed to those who perform righteous deeds, in accordance with the sacred texts. It must be revealed to those who are learned in the Vedas and worship the Brahman with in their hearts. The knowledge of the Brahman must be revealed to those who devotedly make oblations into the sacrificial fire.

Sun God Help Us

Before one can attain yoga (union) between the Atman and the Brahman, may the sun-god help us to control our minds and our senses. May the gods who rule over the senses enable us to control them.

Through the grace of the sun-god, we will concentrate our minds on meditation. May the sun-god bless those who concentrate their minds and their senses on realizing the supreme bliss that is the Brahman. Brahmans who seek to focus their minds on the Brahman, pray to the sun-god as he is driving force behind all action and sacrifices.

Worships the Sun as the Brahman

The Sun is the Brahman. Prior to creation, there was untruth everywhere. After creation, truth prevailed. The universe was created and it was in the form of an egg. For an entire year, the universe stayed in the form of an egg. Thereafter, it split into two parts. One half was golden and the other half was silvery.

The silvery part became the earth. The golden part became heaven. The womb became the mountains and the veins (of the embryo) became the rivers.
He who worships the sun as the Brahman, attains a state of bliss.

Brahman is Pure Radiance

The Brahman is pure radiance. Like the daylight, he is everywhere. The Brahman is the origin of the universe. Those who know about the Brahman, visualize this radiance everywhere. They visualize it in their hearts and in the sun. The radiance of the Brahman surpasses the radiance of the gods.

"The Brahman is the lord of the universe," said the mendicant. "Those who dwell on earth, fall to realize him. The Brahman is the breath of life and I am the Brahman. All food is destined for the Brahman.

Brahman Alone is Supreme

"The Para form of knowledge is alone the truth. As thousands and thousands of sparks emerge from a fire, So many beings emerge from the Brahman and merge into him again."

"The Brahman is radiant, but has no form. The Brahman is both inside and outside. He is not born. Because he has no life or mind, he is pure. The Brahman alone is supreme."

Awareness of Brahman

Brahman is that from which all beings are born, by which all beings continue to be and that by which all beings gets consummated. And all beings keep moving towards Brahman.The awareness of Brahman is necessary to tune the process for remaining established in Brahman. The introspection of the sensations to find their roots takes them to the ocean of sensibilities.All beings are born from the transactions of mind, live by the mind and gets consummated by the transactions of mind. And all beings move in pursuit of mind. So mind is a manifestation of Brahman.All beings are born from the play of awareness, are sustained by awareness and gets consummated by awareness. And all beings move in pursuit of awareness.

So awareness is a manifestation of Brahman. All beings are born from bliss, are sustained by bliss and are consummated by bliss. And they keep moving in pursuit of bliss. In the manifested universe there is nothing beyond the bliss of Brahman. There is nothing in the manifested universe that can cause a ripple in the form of the bliss of Brahman. This bliss of Brahman becomes known by the transactions between the sensations and the sensibilities in the transcendental inner space within oneself. When one knows the bliss of Brahman, and gets established in the knowledge, he will not starve for inputs at any plane of his existence. And he will be able to digest all inputs in a wholesome manner that leads him to the realization of Brahman. He expands his sphere
of influence through the products and processes that emanate from him. He becomes well-known because of the enhancement of his relevance.

Merges into the Brahman

He who knows the truth, worships the Brahman through the process of exhalation and inhalation. He who knows the truth, worships the Brahman through action performed by the hands and the feet. All these are forms of worship. The worship of the Brahman is in lighting and is showers.
A learned one withdraws himself from the material world. Progressively, he merges into the Brahman, who is in foodgrains, the breath of life, the mind, knowledge and happiness. He obtains all the foodgrains and all the forms that he wants. He roams the universe and chants the glory of the Brahman.

Shivoham I am Shiva

Om. I am neither mind, intelligence, ego, nor chitta,

Neither ears nor tongue nor the senses of smell and sight;

Nor am I ether, earth, fire, water, or air:

I am Pure Knowledge and Bliss: I am Siva! I am Siva!

Death or fear I have none, nor any distinction of caste;

Neither father nor mother nor even a birth have I;

Neither friend nor comrade, neither disciple nor guru:

I am Pure Knowledge and Bliss: I am Siva! I am Siva!

I have no form or fancy; the All-pervading am I;

Everywhere I exist, yet I am beyond the senses;

Neither salvation am I, nor anything that may be known:

I am Pure Knowledge and Bliss: I am Siva! I am Siva!

Mahashivratri Puja Vidhi

To perform the worship of Lord Shiva on Shivratri, devotees wake up early and take a ritual bath, preferably in the holy waters of river Ganga. This is followed by worship to Sun God, Vishnu and Shiva in accordance with the purification rite observed on all-important Hindu festivals. Devotees then wear fresh new clothes and pay a visit to the nearest Shiva temple. As a tradition, devotees observe a fast on a Shivaratri day.

Priests perform ritual puja of Shiva Linga every three hours all through the day and night of Shivaratri Festival. During this pooja, chants of Om Namah Shivaya and sounds of bells reverberate in the temple.
Shiva Purana further says that performing abhisheka of Shiva Linga with six different dravyas including
Milk is for the blessing of purity and piousness.
Yogurt is for prosperity and progeny.
Honey is for sweet speech.
Ghee is for victory.
Sugar is for happiness.
Water is for purity.
that helps in the purification of the soul a vermilion paste is applied on the Linga as it represents virtue. Devotees stay awake and spent the night in Shiva temples by chanting ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ and singing hymns and verses in praise of Lord Shankar.

Maha Shivaratri- the Day to Attain Spiritual Boost 10th Feb 2013

Maha Shivaratri is great festival of convergence of Shiva and Shakti. This occasion falls on the Krishna Paksha of Phalgun (the Hindu month), which at the same time relates to the February – March months of the English calendar. The Mahashivratri 2013 is the day which celebrates the wedding day of Lord Shiva and Parvati.

Mahashivratri is the ‘night of Shiva’ when the Lord is worshipped with all dedication in the Hindu fraternity. Shiva, is the remover of sin and the Lord of mercy and compassion. Wholehearted dedication to the Lord will dilute the hindrances created by negative Karma and convert them into positive energy.

Brahman is Superior

This world is like a banyan (ashvattha) tree that is upside down, with the root on top and the branches at the bottom. The root is the radiant and constant Brahman. All the worlds find refuge in the Brahman and no one can overcome him.

One who comprehends the nature of the Brahman before his death is freed. Otherwise, his ignorance results in his being born again and again on earth.

The form of the Brahman cannot be seen with the eyes. The Brahman is beyond the power of sight. It is through powers of meditation that the presence of the Brahman can be felt in the heart. The Brahman is realized through intelligence. Those who understand that the Atman is one with the Brahman, become immortal.

Na tatra suryo bhati na candratarakam

tasya bhasa sarvamidam vibhati

meaning:  There the sun does not shine, nor do the moon and the stars. These streaks of lightning do not shine there either, (so) what to speak of this fire? That, shining, makes all others shine. By virtue of its luminosity, all these (manifestations) are illuminated.

Brahman Makes Great

One who knows the Brahman follows the dictum that foodgrains must not be criticized. Foodgrains are the breath of life and food grains sustain the physical body. It is the breath of life which grants foodgrains and it is the breath of life which sustains the physical body. He who knows the nature of foodgrains, is blessed with foodgrains and becomes like food grains himself. Such a person has sons and animals and attains fame. The Brahman energizes him and makes him great.

Or by how one discriminates between the bitter and the sweet. Are we one?

Brahman is Immortality and Truth

A learned person can attain whatever world he desires. He can associate with his dead relatives after death. But all these are really illusions. Truth lies in union with the Brahman. The Brahman alone is the truth and one unites with the Brahman in a state of deep slumber. A diver keeps diving in the hope for pearls. But usually, he does not obtain any pearls. Similarly, men cannot usually realize the Brahman because they are distracted by illusions. The learned ones visualize the Brahman in the heart and so attain bliss. The Brahman is immortality and truth.
Sacrifices are nothing but a way of attaining the Brahman. Beyond heaven are two oceans known as Ara and Nya. There is a lake known as Airammadiya and by the side of the lake is a banyan tree. It is there that Brahma has a city named Aparajita. Brahma has constructed a golden pavilion there. Those who know of Brahman, go there after their deaths.

Brahman:- The Supreme God

The Brahman is the supreme godhead. He is omniscient, he knows everything. He is the origin. It is the Brahman who created the elements. It is into the Brahman that, at the time of destruction, the elements disappear. The Brahman is not a material object. He is not the universe. He is not a state of sleeping, nor is he a state of being awake. The Brahman is not the state of sushupti. He is not learned, nor can he be realized through learning. He is not insentient. The Brahman cannot be seen, or used, or felt or visualized. The Brahman cannot be indicated. He can be felt through the atman. He is calm and unique. The atman is the Brahman. That is how the Brahman is realized.
by: egregores, The Upanishad teaches us how to perceive Brahman in the universe and in our self-existence.

The syllable OUM is identical with the Brahman. The three components of the syllable, O, U and Ma, signify the three parts of the Brahman.
